Add a block | miow help

A page on miow is a stack of blocks: text, pictures, columns, a product, a contact form and the rest. Click a block and the bar over the page shows its controls, among them a +, Add a block below; Add a block at the foot of the page adds one at the end. A menu of more than eight opens with Find a block, to type a name into.

What blocks are there?

Block	What it is for
Text	Words, headings, lists, quotes, tables and links
Pictures	One picture, or several in a row the visitor scrolls sideways
Heading and button	A page's opening, or a call to action further down
Columns	Two to four side by side, or a panel beside the text
List of pages	Cards or links to other pages, or a shop's products
Product or service	A page that sells one thing or books one service
Donations	Gifts for a charity or a cause, once or monthly
Figures	Numbers in a row, such as years open
Testimonial	A customer's words, with their name
Poem	Verse, set line for line
Events	Exhibitions, talks and shows, sorted into upcoming and past by date
Locations and hours	Addresses, opening hours and a map, saying whether each is open now
Code	Code to copy, in tabs
Link groups	Links in groups, each under a heading
References	The sources a page's claims rest on
Notice	A notice at the top of a page about the page itself
Contents	Links to the page's own sections
Scenes behind the page	Pictures behind the page that change as it scrolls
Comments	Comments from visitors, shown once you approve them
Contact form	Messages from visitors, which arrive in Inbox

How do I move, copy or remove a block?

The same controls move it up or down, duplicate it or delete it. A deleted block can be brought back from the Undo in the note that appears.

Can a block stand on a band of colour?

Yes. Its background colour, in the bar, sets it on a strip of any colour, edge to edge. The picker offers the site's own colours first, and Clear takes the strip away.
