Questions people ask about miow before they start a site, and once it is running.

Before you start

What is miow?

miow builds and hosts websites for small businesses. You describe the business, or give the address of the website you have now, and miow makes the pages; you then change them from your phone and put them on your own domain.

Is miow an alternative to Squarespace or Wix?

Yes. Like them, miow builds and hosts a small business's website, and it can move a Squarespace or Wix site's pages across word for word.

The pages on miow as a Squarespace alternative and a Wix alternative compare them on price, payments and leaving, and miow compared with other website builders sets it beside eleven more, from Shopify to Webflow.

How does miow build my website?

A model writes the pages from your description of the business: what it does, where it is, when it opens and how to reach it. It uses only what you wrote, so it adds no prices, opening hours or claims of its own.

Start on miow.me's home page and open Ask miow beside the draft. The pages appear at the site's own address on miow.me when the model has finished; see Build a site from a description.

Can I move my Wix or Squarespace website to miow?

Yes. Give miow the address of your Squarespace, Wix or other website with a sitemap, and its pages come across at the same addresses, with their pictures copied to miow. A model lays each page out under a rule to keep every word; a Squarespace or Wix site brings across at most 40 pages besides its shop's products, and its forms stay behind.

Links to your old pages keep working once your domain points at miow, and the site no longer depends on the old account, so you can close it.

Moving a Wix website and Moving a Squarespace website say what comes across from each and what stays behind.

Can I edit my website from my phone?

Yes. Sign in at miow.me/edit on your phone, then either type what should change into the ask bar under the page, and a model makes the change, or edit any page directly.

The editor saves as you work.

Do I need an account to start a website?

No. Starting a site on miow.me saves a passkey, a key your phone or computer keeps, and that passkey makes you the site's owner before it is built. A site an AI agent makes for you has no owner until you open its claim link.

Who can sign in and change my website?

The site's owners, each with a passkey: a key their phone or computer keeps and unlocks with a face, fingerprint or screen lock. miow has no passwords and no email sign-in.

An owner adds another owner under People and agents in the site's Settings, with an invite link that works once, for two weeks. Someone who has lost every passkey is invited back the same way.

Can I sell products and take payments on my website?

Yes. Connect the site's own Stripe account under Money in the site's Settings, and every product priced as an amount, and every donation box, takes card payments into that account.

Stripe is the payments company that takes the cards and pays the money into your bank. miow takes nothing from a sale.

Can a charity take donations on its miow website?

Yes. A donation box offers up to six suggested gifts in one currency, and the donor can always give an amount of their own, from 1 to 10,000; where the charity allows it, the donor can also choose to give every month.

Each gift goes through Stripe Checkout into the site's own Stripe account, so the box shows once that account is connected under Money in the site's Settings. miow takes nothing from a gift.

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes. Each site starts at its own address on miow.me, such as yourbusiness.miow.me, and when you are ready you enter a domain you own under Address in the site's Settings.

miow lists the DNS records to add where you bought the domain, and the site moves there once they work, from a few minutes to a few hours later. Its miow.me address then forwards to your domain, so search engines count one address; see Use your own domain.

How much does miow cost?

Every site is free for its first 14 days, with no card. After that hosting costs £15, £20 or £25 a month by how many people visit the site: up to 2,000, 20,000 or 200,000 a month. Every tier has every feature. The tier is the one the site's last 30 days fall in, settled before each payment, and shows under Paying for hosting, in Money in the site's Settings.

Stripe takes the card payment each month. To change the card or cancel, press Manage payment there; see Pay for hosting.

Can I make a wiki with miow?

Yes. A miow site can be a wiki, whose pages sit in categories and keep every version, and which serves its own MCP server so AI agents can read it with no key.

Choose Wiki above the editor on miow.me's home page to start from a sample wiki. Wiki software compared sets miow beside MediaWiki, Fandom, GitBook and Notion.

Can an AI agent build and edit my website?

Yes. Claude, or any AI agent that connects to MCP servers (the standard way agents use outside tools), can make a site through miow.me/mcp and write its pages, with no account.

The agent then gives you a claim link, and opening it on your phone saves a passkey that makes you the owner. To let an agent work on a site you already own, make it a token under Agents in the site's Settings.

Building a website with an AI agent says what an agent can do on miow and how miow compares with Zarla and 8B.

Can I see how many people visit my website?

Yes. Stats, in the bar over the site's owner page, shows how many people visited, which pages they read, which sites sent them, and their countries and devices, over a day, a week, a month, three months, a year or all time.

miow counts visitors without cookies and keeps no one's address. Each visitor is a one-way code made from their address and browser under a key that changes every day, and the old key is deleted.

Can I take my website with me if I leave miow?

Yes. Press Download the site under The site as data in the site's Settings for one zip holding the site as data, every page as markdown, and every picture.

Can I undo a change to my website?

Yes. miow records every change to a site and who made it, and History on the owner page undoes any one of them along with everything since. An undo is recorded as a change too, so it can be undone in turn.

History keeps every change for a year; see Undo a change.

Once your site is running

Do visitors see my changes straight away?

Yes. Changes save themselves and the bar over the page reads "Saved. It's live." once they are on the site.

Why does my site say Paused?

Its hosting is unpaid: either its 14 free days ended without a payment, or a fortnight has passed since Stripe stopped collecting. Visitors see a notice in place of its pages, nothing is deleted, and paying under Settings, then Money, puts it back at once.

When a card payment fails, Stripe tries again and emails whoever pays before it comes to that; see Pay for hosting.

Does miow email me when someone uses my contact form?

No. Messages arrive in Inbox on the owner page, with a count beside it; see Messages and comments.

Why can't I see Products or the ask bar on my wiki?

A wiki sells nothing and its pages are written one at a time, so its owner page has neither. Its pages are under Pages beside the page; see Write a wiki.

What happens to a site an agent made if nobody claims it?

It is deleted seven days after it was made. Opening its claim link and saving a passkey keeps it; see Build a site with an AI agent.

How do I delete my account?

Open Your account on miow.me/edit and press Delete account. It is refused while you are the only owner of a site, so delete those sites or add another owner first.
