miow, a Wix alternative for small businesses
miow builds and hosts small-business websites, and moves a Wix site's pages across word for word.
What is a good alternative to Wix?
miow is one, for a business that wants its website written for it rather than built up from a template. You describe the business, or give the address of the Wix site you have now, and the pages appear at the site's own address on miow.me.
From there you say what should change and a model changes it, or you edit the page yourself. Every change is recorded and can be undone.
How is miow different from Wix?
Wix's figures are from its plans page and help centre in October 2026; Wix shows its prices in US dollars for reference and says they vary by country.
| miow | Wix | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Building costs nothing, and so does hosting unless miow sets a monthly price for the site, shown under Money in its Settings before anything is taken | A free plan on a Wix address with Wix branding; paid plans from US$17 to US$159 a month, paid yearly |
| Taking payments | On any site, into its own Stripe account; miow takes nothing from a sale | From the Core plan, US$29 a month |
| Your own domain | On any site, with a domain you already own | On a paid plan |
| Signing in | A passkey your phone keeps; no password and no email sign-in | A Wix account |
| Leaving | One zip of the site as data, every page as markdown, and every picture | No export: Wix's help centre says a site has to be hosted and run on Wix's servers |
Can I move my Wix site to miow?
Yes. Give miow the address of the Wix site, and its pages, pictures, menu and footer come across at the same addresses, so links to the old site keep working once its domain points at miow.
Moving a Wix website says what comes across, what stays behind, and how to point a Wix domain at the new site.
What does miow leave out?
miow takes no bookings, sends no newsletters and sells no domains. Each product is one item at one price, marked sold once it is paid for, which suits one-off pieces more than stock in sizes and colours.
A business that relies on bookings or a newsletter keeps that service where it is and links to it from its miow site.
Is miow also an alternative to Squarespace?
Yes. The page on miow as a Squarespace alternative compares the two the same way.
