miow, a Notion alternative for a public wiki
miow hosts public wikis on their owners' own domains, and keeps every version of every page.
What is a good alternative to a Notion wiki?
miow is one, for a wiki written for the public rather than a team's notes published from its workspace. You set out the categories and write each page in the browser as it will look, and every save is kept as a version readers can open.
Notion suits a team that works in Notion already and wants some of its pages on the web: publishing a page there publishes every page under it.
How is miow different from Notion?
Notion's figures are from its pricing page and help centre in October 2026, monthly and in pounds as its pricing page showed them in the UK; it priced its domain add-on in US dollars.
| miow | Notion | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free for 14 days with no card, then £15, £20 or £25 a month by the wiki's visitors: up to 2,000, 20,000 or 200,000 a month, with every feature on each | Free; Plus £8.50 and Business £16.50 a member a month |
| Your own domain | Any wiki, with a domain you already own, at no extra charge | On a paid plan, $8 a month a domain billed yearly or $10 billed monthly |
| Branding | No miow name or logo | Notion's mark in the header, until a custom domain is connected |
| Page history | Every version of every page, for as long as the wiki exists | 7 days on Free, 30 on Plus and 90 on Business |
| Search engines | A sitemap on every wiki, and a heading phrased as a question marked up as a question and its answer | A switch on every plan, with a custom title and description on paid plans; Notion says indexing can take up to four weeks |
| Leaving | One zip of the wiki as data, its categories and every page, and every picture | Markdown, HTML or PDF, with databases as CSV |
Can I move a Notion wiki to miow?
Not with an importer: a miow wiki takes no import. Notion exports a workspace as Markdown, and its pages are written into miow from there, by hand or by an AI agent with the wiki's key.
What does miow leave out?
miow has no databases and no private pages: every page of a miow wiki is public, and only its owners and their agents edit it. A team's internal notes stay in Notion.
How does miow compare with other wiki software?
Wiki software compared sets miow beside MediaWiki, Fandom, GitBook and Notion.
